Code Enforcement

The Code Enforcement Officers are responsible for the enforcement of environmental ordinances enacted by the Marietta City Council.

When a violation (i.e. tall grass, trash, debris, junk, inoperable vehicle, and/or dilapidated building) is observed or reported, the Code Enforcement Officer investigates the complaint. Upon finding that a nuisance exists, the Code Enforcement Officer posts a notice of violation on the property and causes notice to be mailed to the owner of the record as identified by the Love County Clerk.

Emergency management services for the City of Marietta are provided by Love County Emergency Management.

Field Operations

The Field Operations Division, with a uniformed force of five officers, provides 24-hour protection to citizens and property from criminal activity, keeps the peace, enforces laws, apprehends criminals and helps prepare cases for prosecution.

Reporting Blocked Railroad Crossings

The Federal Railroad Administration recently created an online system for reporting blocked railroad crossings. While there is no law federal law pertaining to blocked crossings, and state laws are currently being disputed in court, the collection of this information is important to alert federal authorities to the impacts of blocked crossings in our community.

Sanitation Department Residential Garbage Collection

As part of the residential collection program, each customer will be provided a container called a polycart. Each polycart is registered to a specific address via its unique serial number. The residential customer is responsible for depositing all household garbage in the polycart and rolling the polycart to the curbside on your collection day. The polycart should be placed at least five feet (5') from any obstructions, such as vehicles, trees, utility poles, and mailboxes.
